Innovation Details

The Comité Barrial Paluco has a population of 297 people. Thirty one-story houses, six four-story houses and one five-story house were identified. The threats identified in the neighborhood are associated with landslides, mass movements, deforestation, erosion, and flooding.

Proposed solution

The plan proposes an approach based on the classification of properties and the selection of appropriate Site Based Solutions (SBN) for each group. The classification is based on criteria such as land slope, soil permeability, vegetation cover, and exposed structural elements. The SBNs selected for each group may include reforestation, bioengineering, permeable green infrastructure and, in specific cases, structural solutions such as retaining walls.

The implementation phase of the plan includes developing detailed designs, selecting appropriate materials and plant species, executing the works, and monitoring and evaluating the project’s impact. Special attention will be given to integrating the SBNs with improving public space and accessibility in sectors 1, 2 and 3. The average intervention cost per house is USD 20,436.00.
