Hexpressions is a product service innovation providing affordable, fast, modular and sustainable construction to all sections of society with a new-age construction material called “Composite Paper Honeycomb Panel”. It has two components: an inner core (paper honeycomb made with recycled paper) and an outer face material (any local materials like cement board, wood, stone etc.). This new-age wonder material can replace traditional construction materials and reduce the carbon footprint on the planet. Composite Paper Honeycomb Panel is an evolutionary product that replaces non-eco-friendly materials like (wood, PUF, Rock Wool Mineral wool, and EPS) in their respective applications while preserving the key virtues of their usage in the concerned applications. Composite Paper Honeycomb Panel is an eco-friendly, versatile, flexible and lightweight material that is compatible with other materials and has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. It combines plywood, steel, plastics, FRP and many other materials as its sandwich faces to form some of the strongest composite panels for its weight and dimensions. It is also more economical than most materials, making it an ideal choice.
Can you provide more details on the panel’s resilience? Any studies or specific information (text and images) about its climate resilience would be helpful.
We are the only drywall system in the market that is carbon-negative. We reduce the embodied carbon emission during construction and the operational carbon emission throughout the life span of the built structure. In absolute terms, A two-bedroom house made with traditional construction materials and methods produces 80 tons of CO2 emissions, and we reduce it to 50%. We also reduced freshwater consumption during construction by 90% because our system is a drywall system. We don’t use fresh water during manufacturing, assembly and installation. We reduce the demolition waste by 90% because our panels are modular and produced in the factory. Finally, our materials are ethically sourced, and we use recycled paper produced by mills; our face materials are also locally produced to minimize operational carbon footprints. We set up an on-site (in situ) sandwiching facility for large-scale construction projects to minimize operational carbon emissions during transportation activities. In the end, when the product life cycle is over, we recycle paper honeycomb and face materials are crushed for various industry applications.
How does this material behave in coastal areas or regions with heavy rainfall?
We have already tested the material in coastal regions and heavy rainfall areas. There are no signs of critical deterioration on the panels, even after several years after the installation. We can also do multiple coatings on panels to make it weatherproof. All kinds of claddings, paints and various finishes can be easily applied to it.
What are the challenges or drawbacks of using this panel in these conditions?
The only problem can occur once the panel is broken and water seeps in. It will affect the overall strength of the panel due to the peeling off of the adhesive. Otherwise, there are no red flags as such. A presentation and test report document is attached to the email for more information.
